Dick Young - Visionary

Dick started brewing as a home brewer 1984. Around the same time, he sold brewing supplies from N.W. Sausage and Deli and made beer in the back when not busy.

After about 8 years, Dick had to decide whether to quit or make it legal! So then began the 2 year application permit process and Dick started brewing for real in 1990. After 2 years, Dick created Danger Ale with all dark malt and hops. The recipe hasn't changed since the 2nd batch.

His favorite brew was his namesake Dick Danger Ale.

We recently lost Dick, and all of his family and friends miss him very much.


David Pendleton - Head Brewer

David joined Dick's team in the summer of 2007. He was promoted to the head brewer position one year later. He is always keeping an eye on every aspect of the brew house, striving to produce a consistent and enjoyable beer for you the consumer.

When not making beer David is an avid fly fisherman and, when the time is right, a mediocre golfer. He always enjoys spending time with his family cooking and of course enjoying a good brew.


Derek Wilmot - Brewery Manager

Derek joined the Dick's crew in summer 1999, after enjoying Dick's Danger Ale as the manager of Olympia's infamous Eastside club since 1996.

Derek's duties include customer service, public relations and getting the brews to the people via bars, restaurants, grocers, etc. He also works with Bottle Shops and taverns to set up Promo nights and beer tasting. Derek enjoys a good game of poker, relaxing in Montana and being Master of the grill.


David Weaver - Production Manager

David joined Dick's team in the summer of 2007, taking over as production manager. Other than the constant tinkering with the bottling line, he enjoys most board sports, biking, kayaking, BBQ's and random out-of-the-way taverns.


Parker Penley - Brewer

Parker joined the Dick's crew in the summer of 2008. Since then, he has become a full-time brewer and is passionate about both the science and art of brewing. He really enjoys talking to people about the craft brewing industry via brewery tours and brew festivals.

For Parker the pursuit of quality hand-crafted beer does not end when he leaves the brewery. He is an avid home brewer and will often finish brewing a batch of beer at work only to find himself going home to begin another. In addition to brewing, Parker enjoys drinking the final product with co-workers, friends and family. He is also a movie buff and loves many activities involving the outdoors.


Julie McGregor - Manager, NW Sausage and Deli

Julie is Dick's daughter - so has worked here off and on throughout high school and college. She came to work full time for her dad in 2005 when he needed a restaurant manager for NW Sausage and Deli. She has also assumed the responsibilities of office manager for the Deli and Brewery. Keeping tabs on Dick is the toughest part!

When not being pulled a hundred different directions at work, Julie enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters. They enjoy camping, raising cattle, spending time with their families and being involved in the kids' activities.

Julie enjoys being a wife and mom and taking pictures of our adventures. Julie's favorite beers are The Working Man's Brown, Mountain Ale and for a fun night, The Belgian Tripel!
